It has come to my attention that many people are directed to this page while, presumably, they/you are looking for Whole Foods Market.
This is not that, but welcome anyway. But maybe you are looking for supplements that support your brain function - Nootropics - or you are interested in Lucid Dreaming. In that case, you ended up in the right place anyway. And of course, below is the article: Whole Foods For Lucid Dreaming... |
|
There are three primary ways that food can be used to help in your quest for lucid dream induction:
- Eating foods rich in nutrients - fat and water soluble vitamins and minerals, high-quality proteins, carbs, and fats - will provide your brain with the raw materials it needs to produce an abundance of neurotransmitters, hormones, and the various proteins you need for optimal mental (and physical) performance. Seafood is particularly high in special elements that our ancient relatives prized, especially prior to and during pregnancy - it was understood that a diet of nutrient-heavy food was THE way to produce healthy children, generation after generation. I am also a supporter of the strategic application of taking nutritional supplements to augment the whole-food I eat, but first and foremost we should focus on eating a well-balanced, clean (minimal scary-sounding chemical additives), and tasty (good food does taste good when prepared correctly) diet. Eating foods rich in fat soluble vitamins like D3, E, K, A, etc., and water-soluble vitamins like the entire B-Complex, the C-Complex/Family, and associated pro-vitamins and minerals will help your brain work better. It's that simple. (Well, maybe not, because few "experts" agree on what optimal nutrition look like, but we will discuss this further later; or ask me!)
- Think about how carnivores/omnivores (us!) are designed to operate: Hunting/Foraging, usually involving short spurts of intensive pursuit (think lions chasing their herbivore prey), followed by gorging on food (although I believe that most people would function best on a diet incorporating grass-fed meat, omnivores first eat the intestines with all of the fermented grasses/vegetables in there, then eat the organs, THEN eat the skeletal-muscles), followed by SLEEP. We evolved as creatures who can sleep best after working for our food, and then eating said food in large quantities. Everyone's genetics are a little bit different, and our own life-experiences have created habituations to various life-style choices, so the above statements are meant as GENERALITIES. You should have noticed what works best for you in terms of when to eat and what to eat in order to sleep best. If not, experiment.
- This third way in which food can be used to help you manipulate your sleep and get the most out of dreaming is the long-shot. Here it is: If you see that you are recording dreams of food and/or eating in your dream journal, you can use this as a dream-sign and prepare to look-out for this in future dreams. Unfortunately, eating is relatively rare in dreaming. For me, I am usually very hungry before awakening, and this hunger sometimes makes it's way into my morning dreams. Maybe something similar happens to you, or you have another way you can use food/eating and dream-signs to induce lucidity. If so, let me know!
