How Does Alcohol Affect Lucid Dream Induction?
I'm not that big of a drinker. My "poison" was always marijuana. When on a smoking phase (which generally runs for a few years) my entries in my dream journals become sparse. And my lucid dream inductions reach zero. The rebound for REM from cannabis is rather long, and if you smoke every day (or all day, like me) the sleeping brain is probably not going to be in the right zone for lucid dreaming. But this FA-Question is about alchohol...
The REM-Rebound for alcohol is relatively short (depending on how much you drink). I have achieved lucidity after a night of moderate (maybe heavy for some people) drinking. It is possible. If you practiced and figured out your own levels and timings the occasional night of drinking could maybe even be useful for lucid dream induction. I have not experimented much in this direction and have not heard what others think. Let me know if you have any experience with drinking and lucid dreaming. |
